Mr. Asti grew up in South Miami, Florida where he attended South Miami Elementary and Junior High Schools. He graduated from SouthwestMiami Senior High in 1969. After high school he attended the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas; where he majored in Economics from 1969 thru 1973 for his undergraduate degree. He followed with his Architectural education at the University of Arkansas from 1974 to 1978 at the E. Fay Jones School of Architecture for his professional degree in Architecture.
His architectural education allowed him to study under the traditions of some of the finest Architects in the world; from the schools founder John Williams and Edward Durrell Stone vis à vis Earnest Jacks, to the philosophical underpinnings of Frank Lloyd Wright vis à vis E. Fay Jones, the first dean of the College of Architecture. Mr. Asti also studied under one of the early pioneers in passive solar design, Jim Lambeth.
From 1969 to 1973, while at the University of Arkansas, Mr. Asti was a member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1974, conducted his infantry officer training at Ft. Benning Georgia in 1974 and received his honorable discharge as a Captain in 1987
